Gamelog
A social network for gamers: log every game you play, rate and review it, build lists and follow friends, with an admin console behind it.

About the Project
Gamelog is a social network for people who play games. Players log what they have played, rate and review it, keep a wishlist of what to play next, build lists and follow friends to see what they are playing.
We built the player-facing web app and a separate admin console for moderation and catalogue management. Game data such as titles, covers, platforms and studios comes from the RAWG games database.

The Challenge
A game diary only works if logging a game takes seconds and the catalogue already has the game you just finished. Gamelog needed to feel as quick and social as the apps players already use, sit on a catalogue of thousands of titles, and give the team the tools to keep reviews and comments healthy as the community grows.
What We Built
Everything a player needs to keep track of their games and share them:
- Game logging with half-star ratings, platform, play date, a finished flag, spoiler warnings and a written review
- A browsable catalogue with live search, genre and platform filters, and sorting by popularity, rating, release date or review count
- Game pages with a screenshot gallery, likes, wishlist and add-to-list, plus tabs for reviews, lists and similar games
- Lists anyone can create, set to public, link-only or private, with likes and comments
- Member profiles with favourite games, a diary, reviews, wishlist, likes, followers and following
- A community page for featured and popular members, and a feed of the latest reviews
- Notifications for new followers and for likes and comments on reviews and lists
- Sign-up with email verification, two-factor sign-in by authenticator app, email or SMS, and password reset by one-time code

Admin Console
A separate console gives the team a dashboard of signups and review activity, a user directory, moderation queues for reviews, comments and lists, report triage and an audit log of every admin action. Catalogue tools sync games from RAWG on a schedule, refresh ratings, add or edit games, and pick the home page hero image.

Tech Stack
Next.js 16 and React 19 with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS 4, Zustand for sign-in state and Redux Toolkit Query for lists. The admin console is its own Next.js app with hand-built SVG charts. Game metadata comes from the RAWG API.
