A two-sided fitness marketplace: members find and book nearby personal trainers, and trainers run their classes, schedule and payouts from one app.
About the Project
Hers Fitness connects members with personal trainers near them. Members find a trainer, book a class and pay in the app; trainers manage their classes, schedule and earnings, and get paid out automatically. An admin dashboard runs the marketplace behind the scenes.
We built all three pieces: the Flutter app for members and trainers, the Next.js admin dashboard and the NestJS backend with payments, chat and push notifications.
The Challenge
A trainer marketplace only works if both sides trust it. Members need to know who they are booking and that their payment is safe; trainers need bookings, reschedules and payouts handled without chasing anyone. All of it had to fit into a mobile app that still feels simple.
What We Built
Two connected experiences in one app, plus the tools to run the marketplace:
- A 10-step onboarding assessment covering goals, weight, experience, limitations, diet, supplements, calorie target and sleep
- Identity verification at sign-up with passport, national ID or driving licence photos, reviewed by an admin before the account goes live
- Trainer discovery with a 10 km Nearby filter, specialties, maps, ratings, reviews and saved favourites
- Booking for one-to-one or group, in-person or online, single or monthly classes, with the slot held for 10 minutes while the member pays
- Reschedules both sides agree to, check-ins and completion, with refunds that follow a clear cancellation policy
- Trainer tools: dashboard stats, earnings, top classes, a calendar schedule and class management
- Real-time member and trainer chat with typing and read indicators, plus in-app and push notifications
- An admin dashboard for KPIs, members, trainers, identity checks, revenue and commission, support tickets and app content
Payments
Payments run on Stripe. Members pay through Stripe’s payment sheet, and each charge is split at the source: the platform keeps a commission the admin can change, and the rest goes to the trainer’s Stripe Connect Express account, which trainers set up from inside the app.
Tech Stack
Flutter with GetX for the member and trainer app. Next.js 16, React 19, Tailwind CSS 4 and TanStack Query for the admin dashboard. NestJS 11 with Prisma and PostgreSQL, Stripe Connect, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Socket.IO and Cloudinary on the backend.
